Who We Are

The Parish of Strait-Chedabucto is a Roman Catholic community located in the heart of Chedabucto Bay, Nova Scotia. Since our founding in 1833, we have been a spiritual home for generations of Catholic families, primarily of Irish and Scottish heritage, who settled in this beautiful coastal region.

Our parish serves the communities surrounding Chedabucto Bay, providing spiritual guidance, sacramental life, and pastoral care to our parishioners. We are proud members of the Diocese of Antigonish, carrying forward the rich traditions of Catholic faith in Atlantic Canada.

Our main place of worship is the historic St. Patrick's Church, constructed in 1833 and proudly designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. This beautiful church stands as a testament to the faith and determination of our founding community, and continues to serve as the centerpiece of our parish life.

The church building itself tells the story of our heritage - from its traditional architecture to the sacred spaces within where countless baptisms, weddings, funerals, and celebrations of the Eucharist have taken place over nearly two centuries.

Our Pastor

Our parish is led by Father Gerard MacDonald, who serves as Pastor. Father MacDonald guides our spiritual journey, celebrates the sacraments, and ministers to the pastoral needs of our community with dedication and compassion.
